AMResorts announces four new hotel management contracts in Mexico
The firm AMResorts, one of the companies of the Apple Leisure Group (ALG) , today announced four new hotel management contracts in Mexico , consolidating its position as one of the fastest growing luxury travel companies in North America.
AMResorts will manage two new hotels in the Riviera Maya (Quintana Roo)and two others in Punta Mita
(Nayarit) , the two fastest growing tourist destinations in Mexico .
On the first day of the largest tourism fair in Mexico , Tianguis Turístico Mazatlan 2018, executives
of Apple Leisure Group, a vertical tourism conglomerate and the largest tour operator in the United
States, explained their expansion plans.
They announced, in particular, that they will be in charge of the management of the Secrets Punta Mita
Resort & Spa hotels; Dreams Punta Mita Resort & Spa; Secrets Marina Resort & Spa and Now Natura Riviera Cancun.
“We have 52 ‘resorts’ (resorts) managed with almost 20,000 rooms in six countries and more than half
of our portfolio is in Mexico, “ said John Hutchinson, president of Apple Leisure Group, at the conference.
“In the last 10 years we have added more than 7 thousand, 28 hotels and 11 destinations to our inventory
in Mexico , so it is clear the importance that Mexico has for our firm, and our goal is to continue growing
in this beautiful country,” he added.
Hutchinson said that the signing of the four new projects is equivalent to 2 thousand rooms in development,
a figure that places it as one of the fastest growing luxury travel companies in North America.
With these four hotels AMResorts will operate a total of 33 luxury all-inclusive hotels in Mexico ,
through its six award-winning brands, with more than 12,000 rooms in 15 destinations.
“We are the most important customer in Mexico . Today we are sending almost two million tourists from
the United States to this country , “ said Alex Zozaya, CEO of Apple Leisure Group.
In the Bay of Banderas in Punta Mita, in the Riviera Nayarit, the Mexican Pacific, will be located
Secrets Punta Mita Resort & Spa and Dreams Punta Mita Resort & Spa, with 200 and 415 rooms respectively ,
and will start operating at the end of 2020.
The new buildings will be located less than 50 kilometers from Puerto Vallarta and 45 minutes from the
city’s International Airport.
Meanwhile, in Riviera Maya, in Cancun, Quintana Roo and the Mexican Caribbean, the Now Natura Riviera
Cancun will be installed, the brand’s first new construction in the Riviera Maya, with 534 rooms, which
will open at the end of 2019 and is 15 kilometers away. from the Cancun International Airport.
The Secrets Marina Resort & Spa will be located in the “Marina El Cid” complex , about 35 minutes north
of Playa del Carmen, with 407 rooms and will start operating in 2020.
Zozaya also announced the merger between Apple Leisure Group and Mark Travel Corporation, the two largest
companies in the pleasure holiday segment in the US., subject to the approval of the regulatory authorities,
although the executive believes that there will be no problem for their authorization.
The firm AMResorts came to Mexico in 2002 with the first hotel only for adults, all included, and by the
end of 2019 will operate more than 60 hotels and more than 24 thousand rooms in Mexico , the Caribbean
and Central America.
This company is currently in Costa Rica, Curacao, Jamaica, Mexico , Panama and the Dominican Republic
and will try to cover 30 more destinations in 11 countries in 2020.
