Playa del Carmen occupies the second place in the list of the 10 tourist destinations
in Mexico most wanted for vacation, according to a study conducted by the search platform
for travelers Trivago, with an average accommodation of six nights during March, April and May.
The research highlights that of international tourists, 44 percent travel on vacation,
39 percent on business and 17 percent on the weekend; while, the nationals travel, 49
percent on business, 45 percent on the weekend and eight percent on vacation.
Regarding places of origin, 42 percent of those seeking hotels in Mexico on this website are
from the United States, while Argentines occupy the second place with 17 percent, Canadians
with nine percent and Brazil with eight percent ; while the European market (English, German
and Spanish) is increasing.
In the list of the 10 most wanted national destinations in Trivago are also: Cancun, Puerto
Vallarta, Acapulco, Mazatlan, Mexico City, Ixtapa, Nuevo Vallarta, Huatulco and Cabo San Lucas.
In this sense, the general direction of Tourism in Playa del Carmen reported that during this
high season of Easter, an increase of 18.19 percent was reported in the arrival of foreign tourism.
The general occupation during the first weekend of April was 91.46 percent.
