For both national and international travelers, during this holiday season, the main destinations are still beach destinations. Occupying the top five places, Cancun, Playa del Carmen, Puerto Vallarta, Acapulco and Mazatlan, reported by trivago search engine.
In a statement dated in the German city of Düsseldorf, trivago reveals the
preferred destinations of Mexicans between March and May, the average stay
and rates of accommodation and the most common nationalities of foreign tourists.
According to the most relevant data, the report states that 42% of searches
for hotels on trivago in Mexico come from United States guests.
It also notes that Argentines, with 17%, occupy the second place followed by
Canadians (9%) and Brazilians (8%).
However, the interest on the part of the Europeans is increasing, mainly on the
part of the English, Germans and Spaniards
In addition, the main destinations for both national and international travelers
during this season are still beach destinations, occupying the top five places,
Cancun, Playa del Carmen, Puerto Vallarta, Acapulco and Mazatlan.
Equally precise that $ 3,542 is the average rate per night in standard room during
this season in Mexico, Cabo San Lucas with $ 5,335, Nuevo Vallarta with $ 4,746 and
Cancun with $ 4,544, are the three destinations where both international and domestic
travelers spend more on accommodation per night.
The report also reveals that the most economical destination for both types of
travelers is Mexico City, with an average hotel rate of $ 1,480, as a result of
the greater offer that the country’s capital has.
It is also established that for this period, travelers tend to stay about 4 nights
on average, that Cabo San Lucas, Tulum, Cozumel, San Jose del Cabo and Ixtapa-Zihuatanejo,
are particularly popular during this period of the year in the country, experiencing
a fairly significant increase in accommodation searches compared to the average searches
they get throughout the year.
Finally, it is indicated that of the total of international tourists, 44% are holiday
travelers, 39% are business travelers or traveling on weekdays and 17% are weekend
travelers, while, of the total of tourists national, 48% of all hotel searches are for
weekdays or business trips, 45% are weekend trips and only 8% are for vacation trips.
