With an investment of 52 million dollars, the developer Desarrolladora Inmobiliaria AHG began the construction of the Crown Paradise hotel in Puerto Morelos.
The new complex will have seven floors, 184 rooms and a convention center with a capacity of 600 people; It will generate 400 direct jobs and 1,200 indirect jobs, said Héctor Tamayo Sánchez, director of tourism for the municipality.
The promoting company specifies in the Environmental Impact Statement that the hotel will have nine restaurants and administrative services area. The projection of the firm is to inaugurate the complex in mid-2019.
This chain already operates the Crown Paradise Golden of Cancun, equipped with 617 rooms, a commercial area, convention centers, aquatic club, four swimming pools, two snackbars, three bars, spa, golfito, gymnasium and hospitality room.
In addition to this investment, the construction of the 204-room Ventus Marina El Cid hotel is planned, as well as the Margarita Villa Karisma hotel with 357 rooms, both in Puerto Morelos.
Information from the city council establishes that in the next two years the municipality will go from an offer of 5,400 rooms to a total of 8,000, after presenting and consolidating at least 2,600 new rooms in the so-called Golden Mile.
In addition to hotels, the construction of at least 2,000 residential units on land near the Cancun-Playa del Carmen highway is planned.

Master plan
One of the major projects for Puerto Morelos is the Las Americas Master Plan, which consists of urbanizing an area of 420 hectares on the Golden Mile, for the subsequent construction of eight hotels that will total 2,104 rooms.
The firm Desarrollos Turísticos Paso Victoria initiated procedures since 2015, but desisted from continuing with the environmental assessment before the Ministry of Environment and Natural Resources, after the Malecón Tajamar case.
The environmental authorization procedures were restarted at the beginning of October 2016, just a few days after the change of government both at the state level and at the municipal level in Quintana Roo.
The construction of eight lodging centers is planned over an area in which the promoting company itself recognizes that there are plant species protected by law, such as red mangrove, button mangrove and chit palm; Two of the hotels that are announced for this project are the JW Marriott Golden Mile Resort & Spa and the Renaissance Golden Mile Resort.
The company ensures that the complete development of the project involves an investment of 420 million dollars.

Consolidation
The vice president of the Caribbean Business Coordinating Council, Miguel Ángel Lemus Mateos, assured that in a short time Puerto Morelos will shine as an independent brand of Cancun, thanks to the hotel offer that will be detonated in the coming years.
He stressed that the projects that the city has at the door involve investments close to 600 million dollars for the next five years, in addition to the important hotels that already have the area as El Cid and Royalton.
Lemus Mateos said that previously Puerto Morelos was considered part of Cancun, but now that it is an independent municipality they are betting on a brand differentiation that allows them to consolidate as a destination.
