SEPTEMBER, MONTH WITH THE HIGHEST TOURIST INFLUX IN TULUM.

With 85 percent occupancy, the month of September will maintain one of the highest figures recorded on these dates, where this season will not have casualties as they used to say and there will also be no solidarity breaks, explained Claudio Cortés Méndez, leader of the Confederación Revolucionaria de Obreros y Campesinos (CROC) in Tulum.

The works will not be limited only to the placement of barriers, but also in permanent cleaning, collection and conduction of organic material to land, with vehicles equipped with vacuum suction to capture the algae without affecting the marine fauna, they assured.
The company mentioned that sargassum could be used in the production of Biodisel and derivatives, as it is sought by the Superior Technologist of Felipe Carrillo Puerto, as well as other university institutions.

Among the critical points where this anti-sargassum barrier will be placed is the old town of Playa del Carmen to the south of Punta Venado. In municipalities such as Cancún, Puerto Morelos, Tulum and Mahahual, the places will not be decided yet.
The 27 kilometers covered by the containment meshes are not continuous — it was specified —  but they will be placed in sections of 500 or 1,000 meters in front of the most affected beaches. The set of stretches deployed total the 27 kilometers contracted by the state government.

Alfredo Arellano Guillermo, Secretary of Ecology and Environment (SEMA), announced that from June 19 until this week is a volume of more than 135 thousand cubic meters of sargassum collected on the beach.

In an interview, the leader said that new tourist promotions have been implemented in Tulum, which has served so that many of the large hotel chains that are in the Riviera Maya corridor, maintain occupations well above the general average. In this regard, he said that these hotel chains are currently between 85 and 90 percentage points of occupancy, which is considered good, because despite the end of the holiday season in the country, tourists are still arriving at this tourist destination. “We have sources of employment for our members; remember that the more occupation, the more demand we have, that means that we are above expectation, so we visualize it and I think it is happening to us “said the local leader. Similarly, he explained that the low seasons in these dates have disappeared, because it has seen a lot of reservations, for the all-inclusive packages offered by the lodging centers and that have very comfortable prices for tourists. He also stressed that the famous solidarity breaks have disappeared, in which the workers had to lose their source of income for days, without being dismissed, but that it did not benefit them, since their fortnights were not what they expected and with that they tried to subsist the low season. He said that the workforce of more than 2,500 unionized workers of the CROC is working and that the announcement of the construction of a new hotel in the Riviera Maya will help expand the number of union members to 800 more. Finally he explained that in October is another of the low seasons, the occupation is estimated at 90 to 95 percentage points and remain so until March.
